MIR RAHMAN RAHMANI

Patriot - Statesman - Humanitarian

Mr. Mir Rahman Rahmani, former Speaker of the Wolesi Jirga (Afghan Parliament) during its 17th Term, has emerged as a strong and trustable ally of the West and the European Union (EU). He has been actively involved in advocating for humanitarian relief, women's rights, political reform, and counterterrorism in Afghanistan. Following the Taliban's takeover in August 2021, Rahmani took on a leadership role in global efforts to address the crisis. Notably, he is an independent political figure and has never been associated with any Afghan political party, which further solidifies his reputation as a reliable and impartial statesman. Prior to his election as Speaker in 2019, Rahmani served in the Parliament's 16th Term from 2010 to 2018, where he chaired the National Economic Commission. Rahmani has consistently voiced his opposition to terrorism, Islamic extremism, and any groups that challenge Afghan societal norms. He has received numerous honors, including the Order of the Combat Spur, for his personal efforts and sacrifices in supporting NATO allies. Born in 1962, Rahmani hails from a respected family in Parwan province, and he holds strong beliefs in family values. He is happily married with six children.
